Ingredients

  • 4 sheets puff pastry
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Thaw the puff pastry according to the box instructions.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut each puff pastry sheet into an equal sized circle. I like to use a plate as my cutting guide.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Place one puff pastry circle onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Brush it liberally with softened butter, and then sprinkle on the brown sugar cinnamon mixture.
  6. Place a second puff pastry circle on top and repeat the butter and brown sugar mixture. Repeat with the remaining 2 puff pastry circles.
  7. Place a star cookie cutter in the middle of the circles and press down. Cut 16 equal sized strips surrounding the star.
  8. Twist each strip and pinch two of the twisted strips together at the ends until all are twisted and pinched.
  9. Brush with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes until golden.
  11. Allow to cool and then dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
