3-Cheese Stuffed Pizza – Fugazzeta

Cheese Stuffed Pizza

If you know me, you know that pizza is my all-time favorite meal. I could have it for every single meal, and I’ve been trying my best to do that this week, since I’ve had it 4 days in a row! I saw this Argentinian inspired Fugazzeta and knew that I had to try it.

This cheesy, melt in your mouth cheese stuffed pizza was absolutely incredible and I’ve had to resist finishing off the whole pizza today. I especially loved the crunchy onions mixed with the creamy, stretchy cheese!

How to make cheese stuffed pizza?

If you’re looking for stuffed crust pizza, you’re in the wrong place – this entire pizza is stuffed with cheese, cheese, and more cheese! I use the pre-made pizza dough from Trader Joe’s but feel free to make your own dough from scratch. I divide the dough in half, place my first dough layer on the bottom of the pan, layer my cheeses on one at a time, and then add the 2nd half of the dough on top. Top with onions, sprinkle on your oregano, and drizzle with olive oil – bake at 450 for 20 minutes or until golden brown and you have this perfectly cheesy, gooey pizza treat! If you have a pizza pan, I highly recommend using that – but I used a cast iron to cook my pizza in and it worked great.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Pizza Dough
  • 6 oz Mozzarella Slices
  • 4 slices Provolone Cheese
  • ¼ cup Parmesan, grated
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • ½ White Onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 tbsp Oregano

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°.
  2. Using pizza dough of your choosing, divide it in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each half into 2 equal size pizza rounds.
  3. In a lightly greased cast iron skillet (or a lightly greased baking skillet), place one of your pizza rounds down. Add your mozzarella slices covering the whole surface of the dough.
  4. Next, sprinkle on your parmesan cheese. Top with the provolone slices.
  5. Cover the second pizza dough round on top, pressing the edges to seal the cheese inside.
  6. Thinly slice your onions, and spread them evenly over the top of the pizza. Sprinkle on your oregano and lightly drizzle on the olive oil.
  7. Bake this in your oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!
