Frozen “Snickers” Dates

Snickers are my favorite chocolate candy, so when I saw this healthier version going viral on TikTok, I knew I had to make them for myself. I hadn’t had dates in so long, that I had honestly forgotten how much I loved them, but these little frozen “snickers” dates are the perfect sweet after-dinner bite.

Salty-sweet is probably my favorite flavor combo in the world, so you all know I had to add some flakey salt on top to finish these off. If you’re not into that combo as much as me, feel free to leave it out. I feel like it also makes it look even better!

Tips for these “Snicker” Dates

Sometimes I get a little lazy when making chocolate-covered snacks and don’t add the coconut oil, but I cannot recommend this step more. It really makes the chocolate shell the perfect texture! Also, along those same lines, it’s really important to let these set up in the freezer. Once frozen and fully set, they can be kept in the fridge!

I used peanut butter in this recipe, but I really think a cookie butter version of these dates would be amazing! Let me know if you all would like to see that recipe!

As always, if you give these a try, let me know what you think!

Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 10 dates
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

  • 10 Dates
  • ¼ cup Peanut Butter
  • ¼ cup Almonds, chopped
  • ½ cup Chocolate I used a chopped Easter Bunny chocolate, but ½ cup of chocolate chips would work well!
  • 1 tsp Coconut Oil This helps the chocolate firm up a little bit quicker.
  • Flakey Salt (to garnish)

Method

  1. Slice and remove the pits from your dates.
  2. Place about 1 tsp of peanut butter in the pit of each date.
  3. Chop your almonds and add them on top of the peanut butter.
  4. Combine your chocolate and coconut oil in a bowl, and melt it in 30 second increments in the microwave. Stir each increment. Do this until your chocolate is 95% melted and stir until completely smooth.
  5. Dip your dates into the chocolate and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
  6. Place them in the freezer for a minimum of 1 hour or until fully hardened.
  7. Drizzle with any leftover peanut butter, top with flakey salt and enjoy!
